Gold women’s pocket watch

Alfred Helwig, 1905
Dimensions of the watch: Diameter: 35 mm

Alfred Helwig attended the German School of Watchmaking in Glashütte from 1904 to 1905. During this time, he manufactured items including this women’s pocket watch, which he dedicated to his mother. The engraved monogram “PH” on the back cover stands for “Pauline Helwig”.

In 1913, Alfred Helwig returned to the German School of Watchmaking – this time as a teacher. He had no idea that this was how his 41-year career as an educator at this school would begin. The pupils greatly valued their new teacher. He had the gift of conveying specialist knowledge in an exciting way and making his pupils enthusiastic about the lessons.
