Last year, a seminar group from the Product Design course at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences visited the Watch Museum. The visit, which was originally intended as a stimulus, developed into a cooperation at a non-university study location. The aim of the seminar was to reinterpret the watch as a timepiece. The question was asked whether it was possible to represent the passing of time in a different way than with the conventional counting of seconds, minutes and hours, whether time could perhaps even be made tangible. The visit to the museum developed into a lively exchange with the museum team, which accompanied the project from then on. Supporting scientific work and research projects is the aim and purpose of the foundation “German Watch Museum Glashütte – Nicolas G. Hayek”.
The result is several interesting works with very different approaches. It was not only important to have a good idea, but also to implement it practically and ready for the market. The designed “Time Objects” are currently being presented as part of a small exhibition in the Watch Museum.
