Days of traditional crafts

On the third weekend in October, the Ore Mountains Tourism Association organises the “Days of traditional crafts”. Over one hundred workshops, museums and associations in the Ore Mountains will once again open their doors. From mountain blacksmiths to glassblowers, from wood turners to tinsmiths – on this day, visitors can get a taste of real workshops and experience authentic traditional craftsmanship in all its diversity. Of course, the watchmaking trade, which has been at home in the town of Glashütte in the Eastern Ore Mountains since 1845, should not be missing from this list.

On Sunday, 19 October 2025, the German Watch Museum Glashütte will be presenting demonstrations of traditional watchmaking craftsmanship. Apprentices and trainers from the Glashütte Original Watchmaking School “Alfred Helwig” will present their skills and be available to answer questions about the training programme. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk to the budding watchmakers and try their hand at the watchmaking table. There will also be a museum quiz, a colouring station and a special children’s audio guide for children.
