It is probably the most famous clock in the collection of the “German Watch Museum Glash\u00fctte \u2013 Nicolas G. Hayek” foundation. It captivates all guests as soon as they enter the watch museum \u2013
\nthe astronomical clock.<\/p>\n
In 1925, the grand clock was finished by master watchmaker Hermann Goertz after more than 30 years spent building it in the rooms of the German School of Watchmaking in Glash\u00fctte, and has, since then, enhanced the foyer of the building.
\nIn a decorative mahogany case, a movement with 1756 individual parts drives the 17 hands on the artistically designed dial. In addition to the time, the viewer can read off a multitude of complications, including the perpetual calendar, the corresponding moon phase and the equation of time.
\nFrom February 2019, visitors can follow the winding of the clock live on the first Monday of each month, and have the rare opportunity to take a look into the clock casing.
\nThe master watchmaker will speak about the eventful history of the clock and explain the technical characteristics of this unique sight.<\/p>\n
