The museum in a new light

The interior lighting of the museum is becoming energy-efficient

Thanks to the support of the Europäisches Förderungsprogramm zur Entwicklung des ländlichen Raums (EPLR – European support programme for developing rural areas), the “German Watch Museum Glashütte – Nicolas G. Hayek” foundation switched all the museum’s interior lighting to energy-efficient LED technology over the course of 2019.

As early as May, the special exhibitions room was fitted with new lighting control and technology in the course of setting up the current exhibition, “Mühle-Glashütte: A family that’s part of the watchmaking industry”.

The complex conversion of the entire lighting system of the permanent exhibition followed in November 2019. Within this timeframe, both floors of the museum, with a total of 24 rooms and around 70 special display cases, were technically upgraded and provided with energy-efficient LED lighting.
Since 2nd December 2019, visitors have been able to marvel once more at the treasured Glashütte watches in the best light, every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
