A Berlin schoolboy on holiday is the 25,000th visitor
to the German Watch Museum Glashütte

On 29th October, while on a holiday excursion with his great-grandparents, the young Justin from Berlin visited the watchmaking town of Glashütte and, of course, the new watch museum.

He, his great-grandma Brigitte Kluge and his great-grandpa Karl-Heinz Kluge were all greatly surprised when the managing director of Glashütte Original, Dr. Frank Mueller, approached them and welcomed the six-year-old Justin Sander as the 25,000th visitor to the German Watch Museum Glashütte.

For the occasion, Glashütte’s Lord Mayor Markus Dressler had brought along a book about the history of the famous watchmaking town and also congratulated the young visitor from Germany’s capital city.

The Kluge family, who were holidaying in Dittmannsdorf near Olbernhau and were making use of their great-grandson’s autumn school holidays to show him around the Ore Mountains, decided spontaneously to pay a visit to Glashütte.

It was only after they arrived there that they discovered a watch museum had recently opened in the town, and they were visibly impressed by the distinctive building in the heart of the town.

After a small champagne reception in the Museum - for Justin there was orange juice - the three guests of honour were given a guided tour of the exhibition. Once again, the professional and child-friendly layout made quite an impression on the visitors from Berlin.

With an entry in the museum’s guest book, Justin’s great-grandpa expressed his gratitude for the cheerful reception and promised to come again soon. After all, one single visit is not enough to take in all the variety and beauty of Glashütte watches.
