to revive also its foundation tradition and has begun - in collaboration with Glashütte
Original - to set up an innovative and high-quality watch museum; a museum that aims to become
a worthy and rewarding meeting point for friends of fine watches, lovers of the precision arts,
and all others who are interested in the ongoing Glashütte legacy.
Nicolas G. Hayek (1928 – 2010) was co-founder, president and member of the Swatch Group’s Board of Directors,
headquartered in Biel, Switzerland.
The strategy set forth by N. G. Hayek has not only made the Swatch Group one of the most successful
watch manufacturers in the world but has also helped strengthen the entire European watchmaking
industry to achieve new heights, standing and reputation.
Alongside his considerable success as president of the Swatch Group, G. N. Hayek likewise exemplified
social and political engagement. His innovative concepts, his commitment to job creation and the
safeguarding of manufacturing centres throughout Europe have induced various governmental leaders
and institutions to award him a variety of prizes and mandates.
It is with firm belief in the future of the German watchmaking industry that Nicolas G. Hayek had
been actively engaged in Glashütte since 2000.
