The Fascination of Time – Bringing Time to Life

Welcome to the time experience!

For more than 175 years, Glashütte has been an important centre for the German art of watchmaking. With its development, the town located south of Dresden is one of the most exciting scenes of German economic history. You can experience this history and the fascinating world of mechanical timekeeping at the German Watch Museum Glashütte. The permanent exhibition, set up chronologically, uses multimedia to give an insight into the eventful history of the Glashütte watch industry, from its beginnings in 1845 up to the present day. Individuals and companies are explored in striking ways through the use of unique exhibits and archive documents. Varying special exhibitions take place alongside this, focusing thematically on an era, an individual or a product from Glashütte watch history. Talks, initiatives and a range of family-friendly events accompany the exhibitions throughout the year. Experience an interesting and extraordinary journey through time, through the many different facets of timekeeping and watchmaking in Glashütte.

We look forward to your visit to the German Watch Museum Glashütte!
